Patriot Sprint Tour Comes to Stateline Speedway!

June 22, 2016

Planning for 60th Anniversary Special progressing!

Busti, NY (June 22, 2016): The winged warriors of the Patriot Sprint Tour will be invading Stateline Speedway presented by Lite House Auto this Saturday for their only appearance of the season. The always popular, alcohol-burning, fire-breathing, winged speedsters expect a full field of cars including five-time and defending champion Jared Zimbardi, the second place points car of Dane Lorenc and other points leaders Dave Habeck, Dave Just and Tyler Graves. Besides Zimbardi, past winners at Stateline include Tom Taber, Bubba Broderick, Chick Hebing and Bryan Howland.

All seven regular classes will also compete. The Overhead Door of Jamestown Super Late Models sees John Lobb, using consistency rather than wins, holding a 34-point advantage over David Scott and his one win. The June 4th winner Dutch Davies is third just nine points behind Scott. Current non-winners Chad Valone and Rich Gardner round out the top five. Two-time winner Max Blair is currently seventh and Doug Eck moved to 13th after ending a long stateline feature win drought a week ago.

Ryan Scott leads the way in the Shults Auto Group RUSH Crate Late Model standings. Like Lobb, Scott has yet to win a feature this season. Andy Boozel, also not yet a feature winner, is 39 points back in second. Winner of the first two features this season, Wyatt Scott is another 41 points back of Boozel in third. Scott Gurdak and Jason Genco, winner on June 11, round out the top five.

David Scott has had a dominating season in the Sugar Grove Beverage Outlaw E-Mods, winning three features. However, it's Butch Southwell leading the charge toward the championship mantle by 55 markers- matching the Warren, PA driver's car number. Scott and a yet winless Troy Carr share second while Greg Johnson and Ron Seeley round out the top five.

Kelly Frederes, with one win, leads the Rusted Nutz Pro-Mods points by only six points over Jason Covey, the 2015 Street Stock champion. Covey also has a win as does third running Scott Gurdak. Dennis Asel and Jeramy Williams, both winless, round out the top five. The series' only repeat winner is Justin Carlson, currently sixth after picking up his second win a week ago.

Dave Shagla Jr. has dominated the Fox's Pizza Street Stocks, winning three of the five features contested and building a lead of 128 points over Bill Reeves with opening night winner Gary Fisher third. Tony Marotto and Bill Best round out the top five.

With two wins on the season, Dan Nocero Jr leads the Himes Auction Super Sportsmen title chase. Another two-time winner, Jim Kibbe, is second, 18 points back. Single winner Ted Kosinski is third with Steve Longo fourth and Michael Kosinski fifth. Due to the addition of an extra class, the Super Sportsmen will run only a feature on Saturday night.

Defending champion Andy Proper has built a nearly insurmountable lead in the Bailey’s Towing & Recovery Super Challengers standings with five wins in five weeks of racing. Proper has a 334-point lead over runner-up Kevin Covell. Ben Sudol is third with Travis Darling fourth and Jasmine Markham fifth. Like the Super Sportsmen, the Super Challengers will fun a feature only this week.

Stateline is continuing preparations for it’s grand 60th anniversary celebration scheduled for Thursday, July 21 with a 60-lap, $10,060 purse for the winner feature event for the Super Late Model class, the main attraction at Stateline since the very first night in 1956. The special program of events will include a tribute to the visionaries who built Stateline all those years ago - Lloyd Williams, Don Frank, Len Briggs, Jerry Frank and Marv Thorpe. Jerry Frank and Marv Thorpe still survive and are expected to be in attendance. Support classes for the 60th Anniversary Special will be the Sugar Grove Beverage Outlaw Emods and the Fox’s Pizza Street Stocks.

On Saturday July 2, Stateline will present the 30-lap "Papa" Don Frank Memorial for the Overhead Door of Jamestown Super Late Models, paying $2,500 to win.
