"Papa" Don Frank Memorial this Saturday!

June 29, 2016

Busti, NY (June 29, 2016): This coming Saturday Stateline Speedway will remember “Papa” Don Frank, one of the five men who built Stateline Speedway in the spring and early summer of 1956. Don, his brother Jerry, along with Leonard Briggs, Lloyd Williams, and Marv Thorpe, purchased the land on Kortwright Rd in Busti and began clearing it out, carving the the 1/3 mile oval and christening it as Stateline Speedway due to its proximity to the NY/PA border. Don Frank, known as “Papa Don” to family and friends alike, was a guiding force until the original owners sold the speedplant to Francis and Lynn Seamens in the fall of 1984. Over the 28-season ownership of the original group, Frank was a strong leader and is fondly remembered by all who knew him. Sally Frank, Don’s wife, will give the command to start engines and she and their children are expected to attend the event and will present the winner’s check. At intermission a huge fireworks display will be set off. Long time Stateline supporter Neil’s Propane will be sponsoring the evening.
