Busti, NY (July 15, 2019): The Penn-Ohio ProStocks visited Stateline Saturday with a first-time winner. Hunter Exley dominated the 25-lap main event, leading all but a few feet of the race. Max Blair collected another two wins, both the Dave Warren Auto Group Super Late Model feature, which ran green to checkers with no cautions, and the Close Racing Supply RUSH Late Model feature. Steve Rex won his first-ever feature by a quarter lap in an all-green event. Chad Carlson collected his second win of the season after a thrilling duel with points leader and defending champion Dennis Lunger in the Chris Whyte’s Spray Foam Options RUSH ProMod feature, and John Zeleznick won his first Challenger feature of the season.

The Outlaw E-Mods opened the feature race portion of the night with outside front row sitter, Steve Rex, leading the way over two-time winner Cale Crocker and fifth starting Dennis Lunger, the defending champion, points leader, and two time winner, coming to second. Rex was building a lead to half a straight-a-way at lap four and began lapping the back-markers at six laps. Butch Southwell advanced to fourth from eighth on the grid at lap six while Greg Johnson, the June 29th winner, was fifth. At the halfway point it was Rex, Crocker, Lunger, Southwell, and Johnson. By lap eighteen, Rex had a quarter lap lead. Lunger came to second at the white flag, but Rex was on his way to his first-ever feature win over Lunger, Crocker, Southwell, and Johnson. The race went green to checkers with no cautions.

The evening’s featured event was the Penn-Ohio Pro Stock series. Hunter Exley and Daryl Charlier brought the field to green with Exley leading lap one over Rod Laskey, Bobby Whitling, Charlier, and Chris Withers. Whitling came to second at lap two but Exley was flying, holding a half-straight lead by lap five when Curtis Bish came into fifth, then fourth at lap six. At ten laps the order was Exley, Whitling, Laskey, Bish, and Charlier. By the halfway point Laskey had slipped back to fifth when rain began falling on the event. The rain was short lived and after a few pace laps the surface was deemed okay to resume the event. Whitling briefly grabbed the lead on the restart, but Steve Yokum and Bill Applebee spun in turn two, putting the race back under caution. Exley led this attempt with John Boardman coming to fifth at the lap seventeen. Dennis Asel and Laskey got into the wall at turn one on lap 22 and both had to be towed from the scene. Four cars, including Chris McGuire, Chris Withers, Gary Bruce, and Nick Kocuba, tangled in turn four with one lap to go, setting up a one-lap “Dash for Cash”. Exley was able to hold the lead and go on for his first-ever win in three years of racing over his car owner Whitling, Boardman, Bish, and Charlier. The non-qualifier’s event was won by Douglas Eck.

Former champions Justin Carlson and Chad Carlson started the Chris Whyte’s Spray Foam Options RUSH ProMod feature on the front row, but at turn one Carlson got sideways with several others following suit. However, all except Nicholas Mohawk were able to keep moving and thus were not charged in the caution. On the restart, Justin Carlson led to turn three, then slowed and headed pitside, leaving Chad Carlson leading Dennis Lunger, Scott Gurdak, Matt Harvey, and Jarrod Silvis. C J Irons came to fifth at lap three. At five complete Nicholas Mohawk, Mike Johnstone, Vaughn Nystrom, Stu Rickard, and Nate Hartzell got together for the next caution. Coming out of turn two at six complete the race for the lead was three-wide among Gurdak, Chad Carlson, and Lunger with Carlson emerging as the leader. Adam Ashcroft, the winner June 29, charged up to third at lap seven. Then the leaders ran side by side with Carlson low and Lunger high until Johnstone spun in turns three and four at lap nine. After green Carlson and Lunger resumed their side by side battle until Carlson pulled ahead at lap eleven. At lap sixteen it was Carlson, Lunger, Ashcroft, Gurdak, and Silvis. The order remained that way through to the checkers with Carlson winning by 2.214 seconds.

The Close Racing Supply RUSH Late Models were brought to green by David Parker and Kyle Zimmerman. Parker led to turn two, but the start was negated by a multi-car spin involving Steve Houser, Ed Coast, and Dale McDonald in turn one. Zimmerman then led lap one over Parker, Paul Norman, Darrell Bossard, and Max Blair. Blair was third at lap four and Scott Gurdak fifth at lap five when Brian Larson spun in turns three and four. On green, Blair immediately appropriated second and was side by side with Zimmerman for the lead at lap six, Zimmerman holding a .006 edge. At turn two, while this battle was raging, Josh Beckstrom and Gary Troyer got together, and both wound up unable to continue. At green, Blair swung to the outside and drove around Zimmerman to lead lap six over Zimmerman, Bossard, Gurdak, and former champion Jason Genco. Yellow flew again on lap six when J C Lechner got into the back straight wall. At halfway the order was still the same with Blair beginning to lap backmarkers at fourteen complete. With five to go Hunter Proctor spun in turn one, a lap later it was Larson and Chad Clement spinning in three, then Larson, Clement, and Scott Dellahoy spinning after the next green. At the finish it was Blair, Zimmerman, Bossard, Gurdak,

Dutch Davies and Max Blair brought the Dave Warren Auto Group Super Late Models to green with Blair leading Davies, Ryan Scott, Jake Finnerty, and Darrell Bossard at one lap complete. Bossard assumed fourth at lap three with Blair opening his lead to a half straight at lap four and a quarter lap at lap five. Blair began lapping slower traffic at lap nine. At halfway it was Blair, Davies, Bossard, and Scott and Chad Valone side by side for fourth. Easton Hedman spun in turn four at lap sixteen but kept going with no yellow flag needed. Bossard got second at lap seventeen. As Blair had a near half-lap lead at the checkers of the all-green event. The order of crossing the line was Blair, Bossard, Davies, Scott, and Valone.

The Challengers were the final event of the evening with twenty cars starting their feature. William Van Guilder and Brady McIntyre brought the race to green with Van Guilder taking the immediate lead. At the end of one lap, Chris Horton and Tyler Walters were side by side at the stripe in front of John Zeleznick and Patrick Oyler. A lap later it was Van Guilder and Zeleznick nearly even at the line with Van Guilder slipping back to third a lap later with  Zeleznick solidly in the lead and Horton second. Rick Feely was fourth and Holden Heineman fifth. Casey Burch, the winner in the previous two features and second in points, had the right rear wheel and tire leave his racer on the front straight and headed for the pit at lap five. At the redisplay of the green Van Guilder again led with Zeleznick, Feely, Walters, and Horton filling out the top five. At halfway Zeleznick took over at the front, going on to the win over Van Guilder, Horton, Feely, and Heineman.
