2016 60th Anniversary Season Approaches!

Busti, NY (February 15, 2016): Stateline Speedway presented by Lite House Auto will open its 60th anniversary season April 30 after two practice sessions April 22 and April 24. Plans are taking shape for a full season with Overhead Door of Jamestown returning as the title sponsor for the Super Late Model division, the major attraction at the speedway since its opening in 1956. Sugar Grove Beverage will again be the title sponsor for the Outlaw E-Mod class. Returning to the Stateline Family on a weekly basis this season after a one night sponsorship last year will be Bailey’s Towing & Recovery, the new title sponsor for the Challenger class of front-wheel drive race cars. The RUSH Crate Late Models, the new Pro-Mod class, and the Street Stocks and Sportsmen classes will also be on the card each week.

The weekly souvenir program book will revive the Gafner Jewelers Gold Rush Pick-A-Winner contest. The contest allows fans to guess the top four finishers in the Super Late Model race. A lucky fan could take home $100. In the event of a tie, the fan picking their 5th tiebreaker car and finishing closest to last place in the finishing order will be the winner, in the event of a total tie, money will be split equally. If no one wins, $100 will be added to the prize each week it goes without a winner. The program will also give a free ticket to any fan whose “Lucky Number” in that week’s issue matches the number of the Super Late Model winner which must be claimed that night.

Green Star Enterprises will sponsor opening night, a regular race card for all classes to allow teams to acclimate to the new racing surface put down last fall by Turner Excavating. All classes will run opening night with the first special event being a 30-lap feature for the Super Late Models May 7th.

Specials are being planned for the season with the crowning event being a 60-lap feature for the Overhead Door of Jamestown Super Late Models that will pay $10,060 to the winner on the 60th anniversary of the very first event run at Stateline, July 21, 1956. The special evening will be a tribute to the original owners, Leonard Briggs, Don Frank, Jerry Frank, Lloyd Williams, and Marv Thorpe. The special Stateline Anniversary 60th Anniversary race will be held Thursday, July 21, 2016 with racing getting underway promptly at 7:30 PM. E-Mods and Challengers will also be on the card for the evening.

All classes from the early years, Late Models (1956-2016), Sportsmen (from 1962-84) and Hooligans and Cadets (from 1968-82), will have tribute races as well. The “Tribute Night”  will be Labor Day weekend for the Overhead Door of Jamestown Super Late Models. Drivers from the first ten years of Stateline’s history will be honored, including Squirt Johns, Sammy LaMancuso, Tom Dill, Bobby Schnars, and several others. The Sportsmen tribute to the pioneers is tentatively set for June 11 in conjunction the Vintage Racing Series. Ron Blackmer, winner of 61 Sportsmen feature races, along with Bob Schnars, Lars Huling, Skip Furlow, Jay Plyler, and others will be honored. On Saturday, July 9, in conjunction with a Street Stock Championship event, the early Hooligan and Cadet drivers will be the subject of a tribute event with honorees including Randy and Morrie Otander, Bill Catania Sr, Fred Alspaugh, all time win leader Brad Clark, Ron Stanko, and several others.

The Patriot Sprint Tour, always a fan favorite, will have a special show June 25th, sponsored by Woodburn Construction . Memorial races will be run honoring Bill Law (May 14), Paula Southwell (June 9,sponsored by Southwell & Son & Son Oil), and “Papa” Don Frank (the “Firecracker 30 on July 2 sponsored by Neil’s Propane). US Armed Forces Veterans with identification will have free admission on for the Memorial Day Special, May 28 with sponsorship by the AMVETS Post 50 of Sugar Grove, PA. The annual Autograph Night will be on Fan Appreciation Night, August 13, with all adult admission tickets being reduced in price. The Roger Hall Memorial will be held for the Bailey’s Towing & Recovery Challengers on Fan Appreciation Night, August 13 and will pay and extra purse for the 20-lap finale. Extra-length, extra payout events will be held at various times throughout the season for all classes.

A giant two-day show will cap off the season September 9th and 10th with special events for all classes plus an appearance by the BRP Big Block Modified Series. Championship events will be held for all classes at various times throughout the season with an autograph session and special “Fan Appreciation” night on August 13 which will feature reduced pricing on adult tickets.

The New Stateline Speedway Presented by Lite House Auto is located south of Jamestown, NY on Kortright Rd in the town of Busti, NY races every Saturday with activities getting underway promptly at 7:00 PM. Tickets for regular events are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors (65 and over) and veterans, $8 for kids 6-15, with 5 and under always free. Pit admission is $30.
