Stateline Pro Stocks eligible for Penn Ohio weekly points fund in 2021

The Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series will have a points championship based on a series member’s top 15 point races at participating Penn Ohio sanctioned tracks throughout 2021.

Penn Ohio series points will be awarded equally for every event at participating sanctioned tracks for shows under $1,000 to win.

For shows paying $1,000 or more to win by participating sanctioned tracks, drivers will be awarded 15 bonus points for participation.

For Pro Stock Xtreme (PSX) events which pay $3,500 to $5,000, drivers will be awarded 25 bonus points for participation.

For the Steel Valley Pro Stock Nationals at Sharon, drivers will be awarded 35 bonus points for participation.

Currently committed tracks include New Stateline Speedway (Busti, NY), Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway (Imperial, PA), Sharon Speedway (Hartford, OH), Hummingbird Speedway (Reynoldsville, PA), Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, PA), Thunder Mountain Speedway (Brookville, PA), Tri-City Raceway Park (Franklin, PA) and Latrobe Speedway (Latrobe, PA). Additional tracks may be added as officials continue to work with track owners and promoters.

For any Stateline or area Pro Stock driver that is interested in being eligible for the Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series weekly points funds, you can register now for a discounted price of $100 until March 15. Any registrations received after March 15 will be charged $125.

Since its inception in 2014, the Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series powered by Can Am has had one mission according to series promoter, Shaun Hooks: “To strengthen and improve the division in the Western PA, Eastern OH area. We set out with two goals in mind, to unify rules at area speedways and to run a series of good paying races at a variety of speedways to crown a true regional champion for the class. I believe both of those goals have been realized.”

Hooks continued, “The time has come for us to step up our game. We will accomplish this with a two-step format in 2021.” He explained, “We have been in contact with area speedways that we have had a relationship in the past, asking them to sanction their weekly programs with us. Any track that commits to the Series will adopt our rules (if they have not already done so) and have their drivers, who are Series members, earn points for any pro stock division programs that they run. The hope is that this will encourage teams to support weekly racing at all area speedways and continue to build the pro stock class. After a total of 15 races is reached, the series member's worst finishes will be dropped. The Penn Ohio Champion will be crowned and point monies will be paid based on the best 15 finishes that series teams can accumulate at any participating tracks.

“The response we have received has been overwhelmingly positive; not only have most speedways committed to the program, we have been contacted by speedways outside our traditional area as well. If you are a pro stock team owner, check with your track and encourage their participation if they have not yet committed to the program.

“Step Two is something I think our teams and supporting tracks will be very excited about,” Hooks exclaimed, “We are going to do a limited number of events referred to as our Penn Ohio PSX (Pro Stock Xtreme) Series. These races will pay a minimum of $3,500 to win and will be spaced out throughout the summer.”
